OUR MANDATE REMAINS INTACT, JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL — HAM VOLUNTEERS DISMISS RUMOURS
The HAM Volunteers Movement has dismissed rumours, misinformation and what it described as orchestrated narratives concerning the status of the mandate of its leader and representative, Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde, PhD, for the Ondo East and Ondo West Federal Constituency.In a statement signed by the Media Manager of the movement, Comrade Ayorinde Adetula, the group reaffirmed its determination to pursue what it considers its legitimate mandate through lawful and constitutional means.The movement urged its supporters, political associates and other well-meaning stakeholders to remain calm, resolute and confident, stressing that it has neither abandoned nor intends to abandon the legal process.“What belongs to the people cannot be permanently appropriated through manipulation, political manoeuvring or the machinations of power mongers,” the statement declared.According to the group, the matter is currently before the court and the relevant parties have been duly served. It further stated that its request for the case to be heard in Akure, Ondo State, rather than Abuja, has been approved and granted.The movement attributed the apparent delay in the commencement of proceedings to the ongoing judicial recess, expressing confidence that the case would receive the necessary judicial attention upon the resumption of the courts in September.“We shall continue to pursue justice within the ambit of the law. We have confidence in the judiciary and in the sanctity of due process,” the statement added.‘Disregard Rumours and Premature Celebrations’The HAM Volunteers Movement also called on its supporters to disregard what it described as rumours, speculative narratives and premature celebrations concerning the status of Makinde’s mandate.According to the group, the issue goes beyond the interest of an individual, describing it as a collective mandate entrusted to the movement by the electorate.The statement noted that its members participated in the primary election and exercised their franchise, maintaining that the process produced the candidate they believe was the most popular, as announced by the electoral umpire.It therefore cautioned against creating the impression that the matter has been conclusively resolved outside the judicial process, insisting that the final determination remains subject to the outcome of the legal proceedings.“The truth will ultimately prevail, and the rightful beneficiary of the people’s mandate will be established in accordance with the law,” the movement stated.Call for Continued MobilisationWhile the legal process continues, the movement urged its supporters to remain united, disciplined and steadfast, stressing that the ongoing court case should not distract them from their broader political engagements.It also called on members of its political family to sustain their mobilisation and support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates.The movement reaffirmed that Hon. Abiola Peter Makinde remains committed to the political project and expressed optimism that he would join the race once the legal process permits.The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the group’s confidence and determination:“Our faith remains unshaken.Our resolve remains unwavering.Our mandate remains worth defending.And our confidence in justice remains absolute.Until justice is served, we shall not relent.”
