Renewed Hope Ambassadors Write Tinubu, Seek Fairness in APC Ondo East/West Reps Primary
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Ondo East and West Federal Constituency have written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, appealing for his intervention to ensure justice, fairness, and strict adherence to due process in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the constituency.
In the letter signed by the group’s Coordinator, Hon. Adeniyi Adeyosoye, the group reaffirmed its loyalty to President Tinubu, describing him as the leader of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda. It expressed confidence in his commitment to democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
According to the group, Hon. Dr. Abiola Makinde emerged as the rightful winner of the APC primary election for the Ondo East and West Federal Constituency. It therefore urged the President to prevail on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to ensure that all decisions regarding the constituency comply strictly with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act, the APC Constitution, and other relevant party guidelines.
The group stated that the APC has built its reputation on democratic values, internal justice, and respect for due process, adding that the mandate freely given by party members during the primary election should be protected and upheld in accordance with the law.
While reaffirming its commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election and the success of the APC, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors warned that any departure from due process could create avoidable divisions within the constituency. The group noted that although political leaders may eventually reconcile aggrieved stakeholders, rebuilding the confidence of party members and supporters who believe in the outcome of the primary could prove more difficult.
The letter also addressed reports circulating on social media and in political circles alleging that Dr. Ajilo Akintomide had emerged as the APC candidate for the 2027 general election. The group described the reports as unofficial and emphasized that, until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially publishes the names of duly nominated candidates, such claims remain speculative and should not be regarded as authentic.
Nevertheless, the group appealed to President Tinubu to intervene, within the confines of the law, to ensure that no unlawful manipulation or miscarriage of justice undermines the integrity of the party’s primary election.
According to the letter, such intervention would reinforce public confidence in the APC’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and democratic governance.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors concluded by reaffirming their unwavering support for President Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda, and the unity and electoral success of the APC, expressing confidence that justice, equity, and the rule of law would ultimately prevail.
