No Secretariat for ‘Backdoor Candidate’, HAM Volunteers React to Ajilo’s Visit to Ondo APC Secretariat

‎Ondo City — The HAM Volunteers have alleged that an attempt by Dr. Michael Akintomide Ajilo to use the APC Secretariat in Ondo West for a celebration was firmly rejected by party stakeholders.

‎In a statement titled “No Secretariat for Backdoor Candidate,” the group claimed that Dr. Ajilo arrived at the party secretariat seeking access to celebrate what it described as a disputed victory.

‎According to the group, there was no basis for such a celebration, arguing that the primary election in question had already been halted following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. HAM Volunteers also claimed that official records placed Dr. Ajilo fourth in the exercise, contrary to his reported claims.

‎The group said party members in Ondo West unanimously refused to open the secretariat, insisting that it would not serve as a venue to legitimise what it described as a “backdoor candidacy.”

‎”The APC Secretariat is not a platform for validating a disputed mandate or promoting political theatrics,” the statement said.

‎HAM Volunteers further urged Dr. Ajilo and his supporters to accept what it described as the political reality in Ondo West and refrain from actions capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party.

‎The group reiterated its support for Hon. Dr. Abiola Makinde, maintaining that he remains the rightful beneficiary of the party’s mandate. It added that the people of Ondo West remain committed to due process, the rule of law, and the decisions of the party.

‎Concluding the statement, HAM Volunteers declared that the APC Secretariat would remain closed to any activity intended to legitimise what it described as a disputed candidacy, insisting that the people of Ondo West remain firmly behind Hon. Makinde.
