Pete Edochie Alive and Well: Son Leo Debunks Latest Death Rumour (February 2026)

Veteran Nollywood legend Pete Edochie is alive, healthy, and in high spirits, his family has firmly shut down yet another viral death hoax that spread across social media on February 10–11, 2026.

The false rumour claimed the 78-year-old icon (turning 79 on March 7) had been rushed to hospital and passed away, with some posts falsely attributing confirmation to one of his sons.

The story gained traction quickly on X before being exposed as baseless. Leo Edochie, Pete’s eldest son, wasted no time addressing the hoax in a strongly worded Instagram video:“I’ve been receiving calls and messages about nonsense claiming our father, Chief Pete Edochie, is dead.

It is a lie from the pit of hell. Our father is not just alive, but hale and hearty. If you wish someone dead, two things usually happen: the person lives very long, and you die before them. Shame to all of you.”

Pete Edochie himself spoke to Vanguard News, expressing familiar frustration:“I’m alive and kicking. I will die when my maker calls me home. I have been ‘killed’ about seven times already.”
The actor highlighted his family’s longevity, his father lived to 96 and reaffirmed he’s strong despite the recurring fake news.

This isn’t the first time Edochie has faced such hoaxes; similar false reports have circulated for years, often fueled by clickbait and unverified posts.

The incident underscores a broader issue: misinformation about celebrity deaths spreads rapidly online. Always verify from credible sources (family statements, reputable outlets like Vanguard, Premium Times, or The Nation) before sharing.

Fans can breathe easy the “Lion of Nollywood,” MON recipient, and AMVCA honoree remains very much with us, continuing to inspire through his legendary career.

Glad the rumour was just that a rumour. Pete Edochie lives on!
